The next day was followed up with a friendly game of football prior to watching the big game (SUPER BOWL) on the telly. Our team lost, but we are better looking.

What We Ate: We were fortunate enough to have Ben whip up a little of his famous chili- light on calories, but not on flavor. Sarah also made her legendary game day chicken tenders coated with nacho cheese and cool ranch chips. Amanda made ranch- not pictured- but delicious!

Where We Went: San Diego to hang with our friend Alyssa, take a pilates class, go wine tasting in a grocery store and chat about being married.

Why We Went: Alyssa was able to get in tip top shape for her wedding by going to Pilates Plus in Solana Beach.  As a reward for all her hard work, (and purchasing a wedding package) she received a private class for her and her friends. We had experienced traditional pilates classes in the past, but the added strength training and fast paced environment of this workout was a nice change.  Even though the machines looked daunting, the trainers were super helpful.

What We Ate: After our intense workout, we needed a little R&R.  One of our trainers suggested that we try Harvest Ranch Market.  He was pretty easy on the eyes so we figured we’d give it a shot. From the outside it looks just like your typical market, but we were pleasantly surprised with the knowledge and attentiveness of the sommeliers.  It almost felt like we were at our own private winery! 

They had a variety of concentrated scents in vials that were prevalent in the wines that we were tasting.  We took turns smelling the scents and guessing what we were tasting in the cooresponding wines. 

After wine tasting, we headed over to Prep Kitchen for dinner.  The small plates allowed our large group to sample many items on the menu.

Sweet Romance Sterling Silver Stacking Rings by MintyFreshStudio- We love love love these.  Each set features handmade hammered metal rings with a copper heart, created by Etsy seller MintyFreshStudio.  You can even have her add an initial into the heart at no extra charge.  What a perfect Valentines Day present! (HINT HINT HINT)

 2.  J Crew Carrie Crochet Sweater: This is a great piece to invest a bit of money in. It’s sweet and will endure the test of time. Plus, how great would it look worn with a pair of flared or wide leg denim?

3.  Urban Outfitters Bullet Pendant Necklace: Bullets have been popping up everywhere for a while now, and although we haven’t purchased anything we are big fans of the fad. This one is on the simplier side, but you can wear it pretty much daily.

 4. Madewell Sweatshirt Pullover: What is more perfect then this shirt for a rainy day matinee or an afternoon of watching football and grilling up some burgers with your friends? It screams cool in a very nonchalant way. Let’s go Packers!!

5.  J Crew Ripple Stripe Pencil Skirt: This color is simply amazing- it works so well with a greyish top as shown on the model. You can dress is up with a leather jacket and booties, or throw on a tee and fun tennis shoes for work. Bottom line is this skirt is not only versatile, but an emtremely flattering silhouette.

 6. Vera Moda Very Gathered Back Silk Shirt: Our biggest guilty pleasure is a silky buttondown. You can never really have enough of them. The length and neckline of this shirt transform this simple style into a one of a kind piece that exudes cool.

 7. Madewell Love Letter Clutch: We are in love with this bag. This chic and low maintenance style goes with anything, and is large enough to hold all your necessary womanly goodies.

8. ASOS Pleated Maxi Skir: It’s the perfect length for the traditional maxi skirt that is continuing to stick around this spring. The pleat detail adds a twist and some depth for a skirt that’s anything but plain.

 9. Pixie Market High Waisted Burgundy Short: You gotta be able to rock em’, and we are aware it is easier said then done, but how great would these look paired with some black booties and a white buttondown? The color is to die for.

 10. Juicy Couture Wide Leg Linen Pant: These are the perfect pair of the must have style of denim this spring, and it won’t break the bank. Wide leg is back people, and we are on board!

Where We Went: Vegas baby!
Why We Went: We wanted to get outta town, visit the Sahara for their $1 tables, and make it rain. Vegas seemed like the obvious choice.

What We Learned: Sarah is a terrible gambler and if she actually wants to win she needs to get a better attitude.  Or she can just go watch dance shows, shes better at that.  Amanda always wins.

Where we went:  So, we haven’t been as good as we would like recently when it comes to updating our blog.   There were a couple months at the end of 2010 that were pretty sparse.   But, the good news is that we are fully aware, and we are going to be better this year, promise!  The other good news is that you get to see a quick wrap up of the past couple months in one post.  Excited?? Yeah, we thought so.  Here it goes..

Halloween in Santa Monica: While we don’t venture often to the land of sand and sports bars, we made the trek to attend an awesome Halloween party given by some of our westside friends.  For costumes (DIY of course) we decided to show our true colors- Sarah as a ballerina and Amanda as Edward Scissorhands.

 We had a great time at the party and a lot of things made us laugh.  But the best quote of the night unfortunately cannot be explained or attributed to a specific person for fear of legal ramifications “No, I will not shake your hand sir!”  Sorry, inside joke- it’s funny to us we promise!

We like to celebrate halloween for as many nights as possible, and of course we can’t wear the same costume both nights.  That would just be tacky.

Our house for Julia’s birthday: As shown in a previous post, our wonderful roommate Julia moved on to bigger and better things up north this summer, so we were delighted when she chose to spend her birthday at the place she loves the most, our house!!  To prepare, we went to a Carniceria for some yummy carne asada meat, and grilled up a tasty taco dinner for her right before Christmas.

Freebirds by USC: We were excited to try this out since the original Freebirds up in Santa Barbara is a favorite pastime of ours. We spent many a late night loading up on nachos and quesadillas after a Santa Barbaba dance party with our friends. However, we are afraid we cannot recommend this Freebirds as highly. They had just opened the night before so we are convinced they still need to work out some of the kinks, but the toppings weren’t generous and the food was definitely not as greasy (greasy=delicious).

However, Steve had a great time adding his mark to the new location. Good one.

Where We Went

What We Ate: An amazing array of sweet and savory treats including meatballs, tea sandwiches, and homemade cupcakes, plus an incredible collection of champagne!

What Made Us Laugh: Lauren feigning embarrassement over the sexy lingerie she received.  She wasn’t fooling anyone. Also, the large assortment of radical tattoos she provided for her guests.

What We Learned: Good genes run in this family.

We are off to Napa this weekend for the wedding celebration. We can’t wait!

Why We Went: To experience the fusion of Mexican and Indian cuisine- two of our favorites.

What We Wore: A little creepy, a little sexy?  There is a fine line, we are still working on that.

What We Learned: Ummmm… we like Masala?  To be honest, opinions were mixed.  We LOVED the samosas (they were actually eaten before we could take a photo) , we devoured the Masala fries, we liked the pizza, and we were underwhelmed with the tacos.

What Made Us Laugh: Going to dinner with bad photographers (not so funny actually).  Also, they offer free delivery within a certain mile radius.  The pictures might not do it justice but trust us, this would make great late night food!

G Shock Rescue Concept 7900: Besides reminding us of simpler times and lost youth, this watch makes us question why these ever went out of style. It’s TIME to be hip again. Get it?

House of Balfour Asymmetrical Skirt: We have flirted with the idea of an asymmetrical skirt for some time, but we were hesitant about how much wear we would get out of it.  However, this one is versatile and short enough that you can wear it with tights/coats for colder days, or tanks/boots for us Californians.

Need Supply Draped Wool Jacket: This is a great layering piece. You could wear it with pretty much anything, and even belt it for a more sophisticated look.  Plus for outerwear, you really can’t beat the price!

Topshop Suede Double Sip Shorts: These retro shorts have all the components of a great outfit. Short enough to get you noticed. Soft enough to make you feel good…ahh suede. High enough to cover the belly you may or may not have after a huge meal. AND not 1, but 2 zippers! 2 zippers are just cooler.

Topshop Chocolate Knitted Cross Stictch Jumper: It reminds of us the woods in the 70′s. No, hear us out. Imagine bell bottoms, thick bangs, and a cabin. Ok, that’s all. But, it sort of weirdly works right?

Whistles Gigi Leather Buckle Skirt: We are loving long leather skirts recently, and now we can add this baby to the list. It seems almost counter intuitive, but because they fit so tightly and hug the curves, they really give you a good shape especially when paired with a looser tee or buttondown.

Sass & Bide Make You Mine Cropped Embellished Bead Tee: It’s just pretty. Totally unreasonable, and you could wear it maybe 2 times. But, again, pretty.

Jcrew Feather and Ribbon Elastic Belt: We just got this the other day! Jcrew was having a 30% off final sale items, so I mean…? How could we pass it up? It would look great with a dress, but we are hoping to wear it with a pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and a leather jacket.

ASOS Spot Peg Jersey Pants: These are very  sweet. For a fun brunch with the girls or shopping trip with your sister, throw these on and you are good to go. We love it paired with the the floral head wrap as well.

River Island Shearling Gilet: It might be absolutely horrendous in person, but we are willing to try it out. It’s pretty 50/50 odds right now, but we have high hopes for our new gilet!

This is Jazz. A year ago to this very day she came into our lives, and so we celebrate her in all her glory with this post. Hopefully, you will get a chance to know her a little through this photo journal. Let’s get started.

In many ways, Jazz is like most dogs. She loves a good car ride.

She has a ton of tricks up her sleeve.

She loves her canine buddies…

Sometimes a little too much.

Sometimes she plays hard to get.

She seems to always make herself comfortable and fit into the smallest of spaces, sometimes at the expense of others.

She doesn’t have a ton of fur, so she needs likes to keep warm with blankets.

And stay under the covers at night.

And enjoys lounging in the sun while wearing sports jerseys. She really likes the Raiders.

Sometimes she gets iced.  Such a bummer.

Sometimes she likes to ice us, but she always ends up feeling guilty.

Sometimes when she’s had a few too many ice’s, she likes to take photos.

Sometimes when she really has something to say, she tries to talk.

Sometimes she yells…mostly about politics and the state of our economy.

She always tells the funniest jokes…

All while keeping a straight face.

She loves to dance.

And prefers to stay on land.

Is she a human in disguise? Sometimes we think so.

We love you pretty girl. Happy Birthday! Now, get off the computer and go clean our rooms. We will be home soon!

Jcrew Silk Blythe Blouse: This olive shade is great with most skin and hair tones, and this is a great length to leave untucked with a pair of trousers. All around a pretty fantastic staple to add to the closet.

Jcrew Indian Voile Boy Shirt: This color is to die for- trust us- in person it’s even more amazing. It looks perfect with a pair of cream or off white denim pants, and a brown belt and shoes.

Jeffrey Campbell Mention Lips Flats: These are just sweet little shoes- that’s what they are. They help to showcase the femininity of an outfit even if its on the more casual or masculine side.

Thakoon Draped Front Long Skirt: It’s quite unreasonable, however it is quite lovely. You could only get a few uses out of it, but it’s fantastic if you want to pair it will a simple tank and some heels for a night out.

ASOS Floral Printed Cropped Jumper: We love the melding of red and pink shades. This sweater sold out fast in all of the smaller sizes, but if it pops back up, we are on it.

ASOS Jet Pocket Slim Cropped Trousers: This color is perfect in every way. It’s the ideal way to jazz up an otherwise simple and boring outfit.

Urban Outfitters Kimchi Sweetheart Dress:  This is a great dress for spring (be sure to check out the other color as well). The netting around the neck allows the chest to lay looser giving it a much more flattering and conservative feel.

Urban Outfitters Blank Faux Leather Pants: Are these the ones? We will keep on trying.

Pixie Market Leather and Denim Mini Skirt: It’s super fun, just go with it. You will always feel a bit more adventurous with this thing around your hips.

Free People Alta Stone Earrings: A great price for something we would wear all the time. They may be the new go to earrings in fact.

Free People Nicholas K Check Maxi Skirt: We would have to see how this hits length wise in front since a lot of their pieces run short, but this girl is rocking it.

Oak NYC Aztec Metal Plate Necklace: An excellent piece for the collection. It would look awesome with a white vneck and a pair of ripped denim. Makes you a lot more fancy!

Forever 21 Velveteen Stiletto Heels: We need nude heels. Everyone does. These are them. Maybe get a few pairs though since they are likely to be easily soiled.
